This is an electronic transcription of Utilitarianism by John Stuart Mill. Utilitarianism first appeared as a series of three articles published in Fraser’s Magazine in 1861, and it was first printed in book form in 1863. Mill added minor revisions to the text in later editions up to 1871. This electronic text is intended to reflect the later editions, and is based on Steve Thomas’s transcription of the 1863 edition, updated and corrected by reference to the Everyman text and to the Project Gutenberg transcription of the seventh edition (1879).
